Slide For Balance

UI Feature

Date: 2017
Client: Green Dot Corporation
Role: Lead Designer

Green Dot is a financial technology and bank holding company that provides solutions to Americans unbanked with its range of prepaid debit cards (plastic) and financial digital products.

Although the Green Dot mobile app provides a wide range of features to help users manage their financial needs, user behavior data showed that most users accessed the app simply to check their balance.

Goal. Design an intuitive way to easily and securely access balance information.

First time experience.

When a Green Dot user interacts with the slide for balance feature for the first time, the app asks if the user wants to turn on or off the feature. The user can also manage the feature from ‘Settings’ at anytime.

Swipe and release

After the user turns the feature on, their current account balance can be viewed discreetly with a simple swipe and release gesture without the need to log into the app.

Post Login experience.

After the user logs into Green Dot app, their balance is shown prominently on the dashboard tab. When the user scrolls, the balance remains on the top of the navigation bar, so it is always visible.
